Mark 12:30, 31 makes it clear that God has designed all humans with heart (emotions), soul (spirit), mind (intellect), and strength (physicality.) These are the qualities that we can bring to bear in loving God and others.
These are also the same aspects of our makeup that suffer pain and brokenness. In his mysterious mercy, God allows us to be broken so that he can bring about redemption. Listen to Craig’s extremely personal story of brokenness and redemption.

You’re right, Geoff. That verse you quote carries sober truth. What’s also true is that God lavishes us with forgiveness and grace and can redeem the impact of our broken stories. Thank you for commenting.
Oh wow!!! LOVED THIS!!! Redemption: it took me decades to learn what you just said in 30 minutes. God did this with me. He used ALL my pain (there was lots) to redeem me and mold me into the man he wanted me to be. He then gave me the strength to tell my story publicly and that’s what I do now. Your concept shocks people (especially men) when I speak of it. Finally, I meet a man who “gets it”!! FYI here is my story that proves God can bring beauty from ashes: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QYX7BUAZ1qc&t=924s Thank you! I am on your email list, that’s how I found this
Peter, I love your comments. It’s pretty cool that the Lord gave you insights into the power of redemption. I commend you for having the courage to tell others. I’m certain God brings redemption and transformation to men when you do that. I look forward to hearing your story. Please keep reading our blog posts, and feel free to comment any time. Blessings to you.
Thankyou for sharing your story Pastor Craig!
Blessings to you and your family
